Present / Not Detected information for Heterosigma akasiwo. Heterosigma akashiwo can kill fish when present in high abundances. For Heterosigma akashiwo to be reported as present, the minimum number of cells that need to be sampled from a 1 liter seawater sample is estimated at 2,500. Not Detected means that Heterosigma akashiwo is either absent from the seawater sample or that too few cells were sampled in order to detect it.
