The latest water measurements at the NEMO Observatory site where the Environmental Sample Processor is located 13 miles off La Push, Washington. Data are updated in near-real time. These products are provided to help understand where toxic algae may be moving and the conditions that may influence toxic blooms.

Oceanographic Plots

Water Paths

Current meter observations at the mooring site that suggest water paths, or where the near-surface water may be headed over the next 1-3 days. These are termed progressive vector diagrams, and are calculated by summing the current meter speed and direction (vectors) over time.

Current Profiles

Top Plot: Contour plot showing the evolution of north (+) / south (-) water velocity profiles over time. Positive values (warmer colors) indicate flows to the north and negative values (colder colors) indicate flows moving towards the south.

Middle Plot: Contour plot showing the evolution of east (+) / west (-) water velocity profiles over time. Positive values (warmer colors) indicate flows to the east and negative values (colder colors) indicate flows moving towards the west.

Bottom Plot: Vector plot showing the direction and strength of the flow averaged over 2-13 meter depth. The angle of the line indicates the compass direction the flow is moving towards, while the length of the line indicates average flow strength.

Water Properties

Contour plot showing the evolution of dissolved oxygen over time at the ESP mooring.

Contour plot showing the evolution of salinity over time at the ESP mooring.

Contour plot showing the evolution of water temperature over time at the ESP mooring.

Surface measurements from the adjacent Cha’Ba mooring:

Top Plot: Temperaure (red) and salinity (blue)

Middle Plot: Chlorophyll concentration (magenta) and dissolved oxygen concentration (cyan)

Bottom Plot: Total pH (green) and water CO2 molar concentration (pink)
