Workshop Agenda

Workshop Booklet & Agenda

Note: This agenda is a living document. You may need to "Request Access". The planning team will promptly approve requests.

This hybrid, three-day event will enhance coastal HFR operators’ knowledge and technical skill through:

  • A "manufacturers’ day" where manufacturers highlight best practices for use of their sensors, new products, and brand-specific updates;
  • Two-day workshop that will work to improve procedures that govern HFR operations (e.g., site logistics; processing to component vectors, total vector products and data management, etc.), and provide recommendations to users, developers, manufacturers, and program managers for HFR operations; and
  • Networking opportunities to socialize and foster collaboration between new and experienced HFR operators.

Registration

Registration for ROWG-14 closes on April 22, 2026. Registration for and attendance of ROWG-14 is free; your only costs will be for your own travel, lodging, and meals.

Transportation

We will have a 12-passenger van and can provide at least one trip from Corvallis and/or the Eugene airport (EUG) to Newport, OR on Monday May 4th. We also may be able to take 1-3 people on Friday, May 1st.

The drive time from EUG to Newport is ~ 1 hour and 45 minutes with Corvallis in the middle, so if we need to run once in the morning from EUG and again in the afternoon, we can probably swing two trips by potentially grabbing any folks in Corvallis on the way. Map.

We do have at least one attendee offering to carpool with their rental car from EUG and their arrival time is later Monday at 1830, so they might be a good option if you have a late arrival to EUG. Reach out to Matthew Sroufe (matthew.sroufe@oregonstate.edu) for information.

If you have flights into Portland, OR (PDX) we recommend using Groome Transportation to shuttle from PDX to Corvallis. Matthew suggests getting off at the Hilton Garden Inn stop in Corvallis as its closest to the OSU HFR lab/shop and OSU’s main campus, but downtown stops would be closer to restaurants and a grocery store if you are needing to grab some food. Either way, we can make it work.

Return trips to EUG/Corvallis could leave Newport as early as 4-5PM local time on the evening of Thursday May 7th after the meeting, or ideally one trip Friday May 8th in the morning.

Please reply to Matthew Sroufe (matthew.sroufe@oregonstate.edu) directly if you need an airport shuttle. Please provide your flight information and indicate if you need transportation from Corvallis or EUG. Also provide your hotel accommodations in Newport if they are not one of the walking distance hotels as we may be able to run shuttles in the morning and afternoon to/from Hatfield Marine Science Center during the meeting.
